Just some months after his accident, Cameroon’s King of Makossa Love, Adolphe Claude Moundi popularly known as Petit Pays, has released his latest album, Wala Longo’o.
In a press release on January, 23 2019 announcing the album release, his promoter and manager, Moh Kukouri VIP Production wrote:
“When death stares you in the face, then stare right back and ROCK. Petit Pays had been in a fatal accident a few months ago. The composition and recording of this album “WALA LONGO’O” was entirely written after a leg and hand surgery from the accident.”
It should be remembered that the popular Makossa singer was hospitalized at the Douala General Hospital on the night of September 27-28, 2018 after a bike violently hit him. He suffered a fracture, broken teeth and wounds on the head.
According to the press release by Eyong E. Ebot (Moh-Kukouri), Petit Pays did the entire composition and recording of the Wala Longo’o when he was on rehabilitation. He says the King of Makossa Love “was bedridden for months and almost sunk deeply into depression.”
The fruits of this accident, as we can is Wala Longo’o, a 15 track folk (contemporary celtic) album that he has left for his fans. He pays tribute to South African freedom fighter, hero and late president, Nelson Mandela in Mandela Sowéto (track 13). In the song, he praises Madiba for having refused vengeance for peace.
It should be noted that Petit Pays is one of the most popular artistes in Cameroon of the Makossa genre. He left traces of his popularity in 1996 when his Double Album Class F and Class M sold 50,000 cassettes within the first week of its release.
He also has a band called Petit Pays et Les Sans Visa which has nurtured many Cameroonian artistes. The likes of Njohreur, Xavier Lagaf, Guy Manu, Mathematik, Samy Diko, Kaissa Pakito, Samantha Fok and many others are a product of his band.
WALA LONGO’O album of Petit Pays is available download on cdbaby.
